Sure, it’s more common to think of indie bands delivering albums more often than singles, but I’m afraid with Fauxbois they have essentially delivered one good track on their album, Carry On. “Hearts a Radio” moves slowly on some Galaxie 500 guitars that morph into an indie rock that yield to a crash up clanging chorus with a guitar that resonates like Sonic Youth. Most of the rest of the album remains lost in mellowed out strains that never reach that fever pitch of the guitar on “Hearts a Radio.” So while I would often encourage readers to think in terms of albums, championing the long form disc, in this case, pick up the single track and enjoy. Because “Hearts a Radio” is worth seeking out and getting into your iTunes playlist; it’s that good of a mash up of indie rock, melancholy, and charged-up guitar.
