Landing right where it always seemed that De Novo Dahl and the Eames Era should have, Donora plays catchy indie rock that gets you dancing in your garage. (I’m literally writing this review from my garage workbench, but that’s a whole other story about falling in love with my new garage).
Anyway, Donora’s self-titled disc ain’t gonna get you going deep or anything, but tunes like “Weekend Tongue” are simply infectious. Lead vocalist/guitarist Casey Hanner draws you in with a 90’s indie flair and bright-eyed pop bounce. Meanwhile, rhythm support from Jake Churton on bass and Jake Hanner (Casey’s brother) on drums get your head wagging from side to side as if you’ve been grooving to these tunes since the mid-80’s.
