Get your indie groove on! Rafter’s Animal Feelings has beats and funk lines like a fresh-faced dance rock. But there’s plenty of space in the songs so that they also maintain an indie rock vibe. Eclectic instruments echo off the studio walls. Horns bounce and breathe on “Timeless Form, Formless Time” riding on top of the dancefloor invitation percussion. Songs come flashing out of dreamspace like Adrian Belew with some Thomas Dolby jazz-influenced rock. Sure, the warped out vocals on the chorus of “No F***ing Around” seem like a Royksopp effect, but the verses grab some Jason Mraz vibe.
