The Music Spectrum Notebook Series digs into my handwritten notes and reviews on older releases still getting my attention.

Get Goldcure’s 2008 album, Portugese Prince, for the title track. It’s a driving, rocking, swaggering romp.

Beyond that, on “Rubber Inside,” Goldcure lays out a rootsy, guitar rock from Bruce Springsteen’s factories, the Wallflowers folk-influenced rock, starting off like Robyn Hitchcock, includes an 80’s new wave bridge, while being mainly riff-laden 60’s rock. Not every track on the album covers so much ground, but that’s a great example of what you’ll find here.
