One way to write a band theme song is the way Bridges and Powerlines did it.
1) Record an EP.
2) Find out later that there was another band who had just trademarked the same band name.
3) Take the EP’s title as you new band name.
Now, the EP’s title comes from a line in the song, “Mumbles,” so that song has just become Bridges and Powerlines’ theme song.
“Mumbles” (the “bridge and powerlines” song) on Bridges and Powerlines, the EP, combines a bit of Coldplay anthemic rock (they even mention “spies”) with Bridges and Powerlines the Band’s more typical revved up Cars sound. Like the Weather Machines, B&P has gone back to the late 70’s to mine early Cars for the quirky keys, pop format, and just enough crunch to keep it from being stale. What B&P bring to this snack mix, though, are spicier guitars, saltier drums, and a lot less Ric Ocasek sauce.
Thanks to Bridges and Powerlines for the review CD.
